Who is M.C. Escher?Although Escher's work with strange geometry and mathematical impossibilities are his most famous works, he also made several realistic art pieces early in his career. Much of this work was inspired by his time living and traveling through Italy. Even in these early pieces, Escher's interest in perspective is evident. Escher's work uses many mathematical concepts (ideas), and more than a few of the worlds which he drew are built around impossible objects. Many of Escher's works of repeated images are called tessellations. Escher's artwork is especially well liked by mathematicians and scientists, who enjoy his use of geometric distortions. Kids can visit PBSparents to create their own on-line tessalation! http://www.pbs.org/parents/education/math/games/first-second-grade/tessellation/ Sources: Read more: 10 Facts About M.C.
